Law of attraction tells us that when we are feeling good, we are attracting more of all the things that make us feel good. Our task, then, is to find ways to feel good, or at least better than we were feeling.
Researchers at Rutgers University in New Jersey have run a series of three studies on the ability of flowers to lift our moods. The results of the first study were so positive that they went on to do two more and to develop new hypotheses about how we interact with flowers.
In the study, they gave various gifts to participants and measured their emotional responses to them. The gifts were either a bouquet of flowers, a decorated candle or a fruit basket.
When participants received a candle, 23% did not smile. Participants who received the fruit basket smiled 90% of the time, but those who received flowers lit up fully 100%. They smiled a smile that involved their eyes, cheekbones and lips in a way that the other recipients did not. Really! Everybody smiled.
When measured a few days later, those who had received the flowers were still happier than the others. In a study done in a retirement community with both men and women, those who received flowers showed less depression than the others. An unexpected finding was that those who received flowers had better memory for detail when tested later.
There are a few points we can take away from this to use in living law of attraction.
1. 100% almost never happens in science, so this is pretty incredible
2. Flowers are an easy way to immediately become happier, and
3. Your feelings of well being will last awhile.
So, there must be some value in stopping to smell the roses, huh? Your life’s journey will be better.
