We’ve all heard Abe say, “When contrast hits, distract yourself.” Absolutely, you must do whatever you can to get relief. However, what gets missed sometimes in Abe’s message is the part that says your set point on any subject stays right where you left it. So, yes, distracted for the moment feels good, but that thing we aren’t looking at could still be the basis of what LOA is basing its attraction on. Abe is starting to say more and more,
* “distract yourself from the contrast,
* get into the vortex any way you can, and
* go back to the subject while in the vortex to shift your vibration”
and therefore alter what LOA is drawing to you and therefore your experience.
After voting tonight, I went to a grocery store that was closer. It’s not one of my favorite grocers. They recently purchased a chain and on my past few visits with them, I wasn’t very impressed. So my feeling about going wasn’t great. But it was late and it was closer than my regular grocery store and I only wanted a few things so I headed that way.
The experience was going along pretty good. I found everything I was looking for, found some more things on sale and got into the express line behind one person. The cashier although nice, just couldn’t seem to get the check out right for the person in front of me. I can see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 people in the other line walk out the door. I am feeling very frustrated. Finally, I get through check out.
As I walked through the exit doors, I was thinking, “Man, that’s why I don’t come here.” Fortunately, it clicked. The last few times I went to this grocer, I had issues and I didn’t adjust my vibration. So my vibrational set point is still right where I left it: irritated, frustrated, disappointed.
So as I walked to the car, I made sure I listed all of the positive aspects about my experience with this store and this visit. Not surprisingly, I had a long list of positive aspects in just this one visit that were being completely overshadowed by the one thing.
So next time you experience some contrast, ask yourself “Are you going to leave that there?”
